Goode signs

Paul Heckingbottom has beaten the January transfer deadline to further bolster his defensive options.

The Blades have added Premier League defender Charlie Goode after agreeing a loan deal until the end of the 2021/22 season with parent club Brentford.

Goode's arrival follows last week's capture of goalkeeper Adam Davies as Heckingbottom continues to evolve his Blades squad.
The 26-year-old central defender has played six times in the Premier League for the Bees this season after helping Thomas Frank's side to promotion last season.

Blades football manager, Heckingbottom, commented: "We are delighted to bring in Charlie, he offers us good competition in an area of the pitch where we are a little light. He has good experience, including at the top level, and will be comfortable in a number of positions across the back line, whether we play with three or four at the back."

The former Fulham youth prospect began his senior career in non-league, with his break in the professional game arriving in 2015 when he left Hendon to join Scunthorpe United.

In 2019 he enjoyed a successful loan spell at Northampton Town which eventually turned into a permanent switch to Sixfields. The former England C international helped Northampton to promotion from League Two after a successful play-off victory over Exeter City at Wembley.

His form drew attention from Brentford who paid a fee reported to be in excess of £1m to secure his services. He has made eight appearances in all competitions this season, most recently in December in Brentford's 2-1 Premier League win over Watford.

Goode will wear the number 26 shirt whilst with the Blades.
