Hamer impressed during his first season at Bramall Lane, despite the club's relegation from the Premier League, with the Dutchman scoring four goals in 34 starts, including a wonderful strike on his debut against Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder, who also lists Feyenoord, Dordrecht and PEC Zwolle amongst his former clubs, penned a four-year deal at S2 when United paid Coventry City an undisclosed fee for his services.

Despite being Brazilian born, Hamer represented the Netherlands at youth level.
