Upon his re-appointment in December 2023, Chris was joined by long-time trusted lieutenants Alan Knill (assistant manager) and Matt Prestridge (first team coach). The pair have worked alongside Chris going back to their days together at Northampton Town. They were part of the backroom team which enjoyed great success with the Blades between 2016 and 2021, and they also worked with Chris at Middlesbrough and Watford. Assistant boss Alan, who enjoyed a productive managerial career in his own right, is also part of the Wales national team coaching staff.

Chris has also retained the services of first team coach and fellow Sheffielder Jack Lester. A former Blades striker, Jack became academy manager during Chris' first spell, and was part of the first team setup under previous boss Paul Heckingbottom.

Following the departure of first-team coach Keith Andrews to Brentford in the summer, U21 lead coach and former Bradford City boss Micky Collins was promoted to the work the first team having enjoyed notable success with United's oldest development age group in recent campaigns.

Another Sheffielder, Matt Duke is United's goalkeeping coach, and has worked previously under Chris, as well as Slavisa Jokanovic and Paul Heckingbottom. Tom Little is head of performance at Bramall Lane, a position he has held since the summer of 2022, having previously worked for Preston North End.

The medical department is headed by Bryan English and is able supported by Steve Humphries, Ryan Flanagan, Joe Sowden, Chris Senior, Paul Evans and Iain Worton. They are supplemented by club doctors Dr Alex Worthington and Dr Subhashis Basu.

The first team management are furthered supported in and around the training ground by Lee McMahon and Nathan Winder, whilst Carl Hopwood and Adam Geelan work tirelessly behind the scenes for all kit and equipment related matters. Chef Matt Dale is responsible for the food intake of the playing staff and is supported by Adrian Ogden and a number of other kitchen staff, with Olly Cree leading the club's nutritional needs.

Mike Allen has returned to the club as head of recruitment with former player and Blade Jamie Hoyland working as chief scout. The analyst team is led by Hayden Whiting, with Michael Cooper and Liam McLaughlin providing specific support in that important area behind the scenes.
