United's Under 21s hit seven against Huddersfield Town to make it three wins from three in the Premier League Cup group stage.

Louie Marsh scored a hat-trick while Tom Davies scored a superb goal on his first 90 minutes in the midfield, with Billy Blacker, Jevan Beattie and Marshall Francis all on target.

The Blades got off to the perfect start when Owen Hampson was fouled inside the box, Marsh stepping up to slot home from the spot.

United had come flying out the blocks with Jevan Beattie seeing two early efforts well saved while Marsh was also denied, but Huddersfield got a lifeline though with a penalty of their own, Luke Faxon initially saving Cian Philpott's effort, but the winger slammed home the rebound from close range.

Faxon had to be alert to deny the visitors a second almost immediately, before Jack Waldron prodded an effort wide down the other end.

Marsh though got his second with a clinical finish from a tight angle after excellent link up play between Hampson and Beattie, giving United the lead going into the break, though there was nearly a third in stoppage time when Blacker's effort came back off the crossbar.

It took just four minutes of the second half though for Marsh to complete his hat-trick, some persistence allowing him to work his way into the box and see a low effort deflect up over both the goalkeeper and a defender on the line.

Huddersfield came back again though when Josh Ruffels saw a looping effort go over Faxon and into the corner, but United responded within a minute when Blacker wriggled his way into the box and slotted home a fourth to re-establish the two-goal lead.

Beattie kept his good form going soon after with a clinical finish from close range after being in the right place to hammer home Sam Aston's cross from the right, before Aston himself was denied by a good save.

From the corner though, Davies hammered home a stunning goal from the edge of the box after the cross was cleared to him and the seventh soon followed when substitute Francis slid home from close range after another flowing move and a low cross from Harry Boyes.

The visitors struck the crossbar themselves late on before youngster Sam Colechin made his Under 21s debut late on as United saw things out to record another big win.
